Self Reflection
I actually was glad when I heard that I had to make a persuasive speech presentation this time. I usually liked to speak to a group of audience, especially to persuade them. Since I was involved in activities such as Speech and Debate competition, I thought this task would be easy to do. However, things were quiet different from the times I made a persuasive speech before. Because the topic had to be related to school issues, I spent a lot of time thinking of the thesis statement that could really connect to the students but at the same time interesting and logical. After I was done with writing my speech, it was hard to practice speaking because I didn’t really know the best way to efficiently deliver my points. Often times my speech sounded too serious, so I struggled to make the speech sound interesting enough to not lose audiences’ attention in the middle of the speech.

When I was actually making my speech in front of the audience, I was little nervous because my voice was cracking. Also, I felt like I depended too much on the paper while I was speaking."Moreover, she should work on her fluency, for she kind of talked in a monotone ", " The speaker could have worked more on engaging the audience because the speech was too serious for the audience. Furthermore, moving around instead of standing would help presenting skills." As some of my peer classmates said in their evaluations, I needed to make more gestures to engage everyone's attention in the room and use more exciting tones. However, I think I managed to deliver my points clearly and put appropriate emphasis on the important parts of my speech. Speaking in front of the people to persuade them with a serious point but at the same time speaking interestingly was not an easy task. Nevertheless, after I presented my speech, it helped me to be more confident and I improved on my public speaking performance. It was good to actually write and speak something to people to persuade the point I want to make, instead of using the topic that I’m not really interested in. This experience was a great chance for me to improve on both of my writing and speaking skills, and I had a good time overall.
